My sincerest condolences to the family. 1LT Conway was our mortar platoon leader in Co. D, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division in 1967. He was a great leader and well-liked and respected by all of us. After I went home in Dec. 1967, he wrote me, gave me an update on what they had been doing and sent me some medals that I had been awarded. I learned later that he was promoted to Captain and was Company Commander of one of our sister companies. He was in Khe Sanh in 1968 for the liberation of our Marines who were under siege. Years later, I tried to locate him unsuccessfully to invite him to join us at the 1st Cavalry reunions. Rest in Peace Lt. Conway!
