Peggy Brown Obituary

Peggy Mae Brown was born September 13, 1940 in Junction City, Kansas to Luther and Lona Bolton. Peggy Bolton married Richard Brown on September 16, 1955. Together they had 11 children.

Peggy passed away in the morning hours of October 28, 2017 after fighting a long, hard battle with dementia for six years.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Richard Brown and siblings Luther Bolton Jr., Billy Bolton, and Nina Bolton. She is also survived by her sons James, Steve, Kenny, and Keith Brown, which are all of Lawrence, KS. As well as her daughters Peggy Hedenberg of Katy, TX, Judy Klemme of Lecompton, KS, Patricia Burgen of Lawrence, KS, and Lisa Schultz of Westminster, CO. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Lona Bolton and her siblings Jessie Bolton, Marvin Bolton, Annie Bolton, Bobby Bolton, and Ricky Jay Bolton. She is also preceded in death by her sons, Richard Lee Jr., Ronald Eugene, and Brad Ley Brown.

Peggy was a stay at home mom with all of her 11 children, adoring each and every one of them; her family was her heart and soul. Peggy also helped care for her grandchildren, for some time. Peggy then enjoyed her time working for KU at Naismith dorm rooms for eight years.

Peggy and Richard enjoyed their time traveling to Colorado and Texas, which they ended up living in Texas for a few years, but family is what brought them back to Baldwin City, KS.

One of Peggy's favorite hobbies was playing cards followed by watching her husband Richard play in his band. She also loved ice skating, square-dancing, sewing, gardening, taking care of cats, even taking in stray cats, but most of all, Peggy loved taking care of her family.

Peggy was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was deeply loved by her family and will be extremely missed by us all.

A Viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin City, KS. A graveside funeral will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 at Sutton Cemetery off 56 Hwy.
