Otto August Sitz

Otto August Sitz, Jr., passed from this life on February 2, 2015, on St. Simons Island, Georgia. He was 89 years old.

Otto was born in Lawrence, Kansas, on August 12, 1925 to Otto August Sitz, Sr., and Magdalena (Heck) Sitz. He grew up in Nowata, OK.

He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1943. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He saw service in the Pacific Theater.

He attended Oklahoma A&M where he majored in accounting. He married Marjorie Hifler on February 14, 1948.

Otto was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a radio operator. He was assigned to field offices in Washington, DC, Honolulu, and Oklahoma City. He went on to spend more than 20 years working as a salesman for US Gypsum. He ended his working career working for the Kansas Corporation Commission. He spent his last two decades living in Nowata with his friends. Otto's one great passion was playing golf.

Otto was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marian S. Villee. Marjorie Sitz, his wife of 63 years, died in 2011.

He is survived by his three children: Jeanne Trainor (William), St. Simons Island, GA; Debbie Walker (Brock), Okemos, MI; and Bradley Sitz (Ellen), Clayton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on March 4, 2015, at 10 AM at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Nowata, OK. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
