Norma J. Stangle

Norma Stangle, 87, passed away March 1, 2015 in Lawrence.

She was born August 14, 1927 to E.M. and Hulda (Dauber) Wagner. She grew up in Ellsworth and lived in Russell for 44 years before coming to Lawrence. Norma was united in marriage with Cecil L. Stangle on June 11, 1951. This union was blessed with two children: Garrick and Allyn (known to some as Margaret). Cecil preceded her in death on January 3, 2000.

Among the many adventures/activities of her life, Norma was a wonderful mother and excellent cook; she excelled at her life's work as a Registered Nurse; and was a positive influence for countless young women in the Russell area through her many years as a Girl Scout leader.

She is survived by two children: a son, Garrick (Louellyn) Stangle, Olathe and a daughter, Allyn (Bruce) Elliott, Lawrence; as well as a grandson, Andrei Elliott, Lawrence. Additional surviving family includes a sister and brother in Ft. Collins, CO; and a brother in Independence, KS.

A celebration of Norma's life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at West Campus of First United Methodist Church, 867 Hwy 40, Lawrence. Memorials are suggested to Girl Scouts or the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Burns, KS and may be sent in her name to 3917 W. 8th, Lawrence. Burial of ashes on a future date will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery, Burns.
