Neil Snyder Obituary

The God of all comfort called Neil Charles Snyder to his eternal home on October 25th, 2018. Neil was born on December 26th, 1944, to Norman and Margaret Snyder of Topeka, Kansas. Neil married Frankie M. Williams on July 4th, 1976 and Neil and his "Hon" made their home in Lawrence, Kansas, for many years. Neil served in the United States Marine Corps and was retired from the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

Neil is survived by his wife, Frankie, and their "protective" dog, Max, his brother, Kent T. Snyder of Lawrence and Largo, Florida; sister-in-law, Donna Mayfield; brother-in-law, Roger Williams (Leslie); niece, Hannah Williams; nephew, Hunter Williams (Sarah) and their children; niece, Melissa Williams (Justin) and their children, and an abundant group of friends. Soul music, speed (roller) skating, sporty cars and jeeps, ski boats, college and professional sports, and automobile racing at various levels including NASCAR were among his passions. He was locally and regionally known for his skills and showmanship performing karaoke in a number of venues.

The Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas, is in charge of arrangements. A private celebration of life memorial service is planned by the family. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Neil to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 (woundedwarriorproject.org).

Frankie: I was shocked to see Neil's obituary today. I haven't seen you in a long time. I really appreciated that Neil took time to stop and visit with my sister Kay when he was in Topeka. You all will be in my heart and prayers in your time of sorrow. including Donna,Roger, Melisa and their families.

I never met Neil, but I worked with his wife Frankie for a few years in the late 1960s. I knew they were a devoted couple and she took good care of him during his last periods of ill health. Neil, I am a veteran as well, and I thank you for your service. RIP and Semper Fi!
