I miss seeing Nancy on the sidelines at KU women's and men's basketball games. I think of her there. She was so dedicated to "her" kids.

Nancy was a pleasant soul to work with. Whenever l needed her to adjust for load times for her activity trips she never hesitated. She always was pleasant and friendly. She will be deeply missed.

Nancy was a big hearted person who always had a hug for her friends. She believed in community and served it well. Nancy influenced so many young volleyball players to be the best they could be. She will be missed.

I used to umpire adult rec softball with Nancy 39 years ago. From that a friendship grew. I wish that I had words to eloquently express the numbness I feel, the loss I feel. I wish there was something that I could do. I will miss her.

“Hopkins” had a very positive influence on my kids, beginning at West Junior High. She loved their athletic abilities and followed their careers, even though neither ever had her as a coach. She was a definite factor in shaping their self image at a crucial stage of their lives. I’m certain many other parents feel the same way. Thanks, Hopkins!!

Nancy, I remember how much fun it was playing softball&volleyball w/& against (less fun!) you over the many years n Lawrence. Having you as a teammate or against you on the other team always raised the level of competition & increased the enjoyment because of your great attitude & personality. Thanks 4 the many fun times on the field&court. My condolences 2 the loved ones left behind. Let your spirit soar!

Nancy worked as an umpire in city league softball years ago and was alway impartial and very professional. Friendly to everyone. It's said that the best officials are the ones you don't notice. She was that just called the games without being the center of attention. I ran into her years latter as one of my daughters attended her Volleyball camp. She remembered me and we spoke for several minutes. Just small talk but someone who has run across lots of people in her time amazing she remembers people and faces. If one word sums her up it's class.
