Murvin Pearson Obituary

Murvin Robert Pearson, 80, formerly of Lawrence, passed away February 10, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri of natural causes. He was born in Linwood, Kansas, April 13, 1942, to Paul Edward and Maggie Esther (Dunn) Pearson, the sixth of their 7 children. After graduation from Lawrence High School in 1960 he served 4 years in the Navy on the USS Mauna Kea. After he was discharged from the Navy, he went on to work for Kansas Power and Light energy plant in Lawrence for the next 32 years, retiring in 1999.

While in the service, he married Karen (Bookout) Pearson, with whom he had 2 daughters, Diana and Sheryl. They eventually divorced after 28 years. He then married Catherine Lou (Hicks) Pearson on May 3, 1992, becoming stepfather to her 2 daughters, Debra and Dana. He and Catherine were together for 31 years until he passed away at their home in Springfield, Missouri.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine (Hicks) Pearson, of the home, his 2 daughters Diana (Brown) Pearson, and Sheryl Pearson and her husband Jim Rector, his 2 stepdaughters Debra (Deonier) Millhollin and her husband Michael, and Dana (Deonier) Rohrbaugh and her husband Clarence, and his 6 grandchildren: Garrett Cleek, Elijah Rohrbaugh, Zachary Brown, Joshua Rohrbaugh, Nicholas Brown and Katherine Rohrbaugh. He is preceded in death by his parents, his older brothers Cecil Pearson and Stanley Pearson, and his older sister Nadine (Pearson) Young.

He wished to be cremated, with interment to take place in the future upon his wife Catherine's passing. The family asks that donations be made to Convoy of Hope in lieu of flowers.
