Mildred Hall Obituary

Mildred (Mileigh) Marie Hall

Mildred (Mileigh) Marie Hall, 86, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away August 8th, 2014 at Saint Luke's Hospice House after a brief illness. Mileigh was born in Lincoln, Kansas to L.J. and Bertha Starks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Richard B. Hall. After R.B.'s passing in 2005, she found love again and married their mutual friend and former co-worker, Albert P. Wells. For five years, until Al's passing in 2011, they lived in Miami, Florida and traveled the country by car. She is survived by her daughters, Kristine Hall Bailey (Bill) of Lawrence, Kansas, and Patty Hall Wood (Tom) of Kansas City, as well as her step-children, Bunny Hall Basse (Barry) of Ashburn, Virginia, Richard B. Hall, II (Jane) of Norfolk, Virginia and Roger E. Hall (Jodi) of Republic, Washington. "Mimi's" legacy includes 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Lyle Starks (Carol) of Mesquite, Nevada. At the age of 18, Mileigh arrived in Kansas City by train from Lincoln, Kansas, finding employment at the Uptown Theater's ticket office, and later at Kansas City Life Insurance. But her real passion was travel, and at the age of 20, she became a stewardess for World Airways/North American Airlines where she met and married the guy in the cockpit, R.B. Later in life, Mileigh re-married his friend and fellow pilot, Al Wells. After her children were raised, Mileigh became a travel agent and took great pride in starting a travel school, the first of its kind, for Passport Travel. Mileigh was an active volunteer throughout her life, generously giving her time to Girl Scouts, her church, KC Visitor's Bureau, KCI Airport Ambassadors, VA Auxiliary and Toastmasters, where she won a blue ribbon for her public speaking skills. As a lifelong member of Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church, and devotee of the Lord, Mileigh never met a stranger. Mileigh's world was a stage, and she wowed us daily with her put-together presentation and performance. Her famous meatball recipe will give us a taste of heaven for generations to come. Mileigh received groundbreaking ear surgery in the 1950's and has donated her temporal bones to Harvard School of Medicine. Memorial services pending. Donations may be made to Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church, 7406 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Patty:
I was so sorry to hear about your mothers passing. Since I spent half my school years at your house, I remember her smile, kindness and of course, spaghetti. She taught and reminded me all the time on the proper way to eat spaghetti. I did always think her name was Milicent as I can hear R.B. calling her. So many good memories. Take care

To the Hall family,

Mileigh (and R.B.) were the first to welcome us to Kansas City in 1975 and will always be remembered as great friends and neighbors. Mileigh was the most elegant person I have ever known. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Millie's loved ones. You have our most sincere but sad condolences. We just learned of her crossing over shortly after I was there to visit. May our good Lord bless her and keep her forever. She & R.B. were in their home in 1967 when we moved in next to them at 8906 Belleview. It was my pleasure to on occasion advise and/or assist R.B. & Millie in their elder years, then later getting to meet her Albert. I will continue to enjoy telling her late in life new love story with Al. We also trust that the Lord will let the Brammer Family, to once again see and wish her well in her new home.

Kris, Pat and all--

So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. She was a great friend and confidant of our Mom and Dad, and she put the neighborliness in the word neighbor! Hope the Belleview originals are all chatting now in heaven.
