Michelle Stacy Obituary

Michelle Gregory Stacy

On March 19, Michelle Gregory Stacy, 60, passed away from this earth and took her final voyage to meet her heavenly Father after a 7 year battle with ovarian cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the chapel of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, with Hospice Chaplain Gwen Moorman officiating. Those attending the service are requested to wear Caribbean or colorful attire. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Michelle was a sailor with a Caribbean Soul, for she so loved the unique way that a body of water could be enjoyed from the helm of a sailboat. She was born on November 30, 1953 in Lawrence, Kansas, and spent her adult life living in the Dallas (TX) area. It was on the waters of Lake Lewisville that she first fell in love with sailing.

In those early days she sailed 14' Hobie Cats and won the Women's National Championship in 1981. After retiring from competitive sailing she began cruising on larger boats and started taking friends along. It is on these voyages, mostly in the West Indies, that she was happiest: among her family and friends, sharing great times and beautiful sunsets. Oh, how Michelle loved a great sunset! We will never see one and not think of her.

In between voyages, Michelle managed to build a successful manufacturing business- Radius Display Products. In this business she instilled her values of honest, straightforward business, and an "all hands on deck" mentality among co-workers that has thrived for 37 years. Many employees of the company are among her closest friends. In 2004, Michelle published her autobiography "Letters to Mom."

Michelle was preceded in death by father Gleason Charles Gregory and mother Helen Caroline (Boehm) Gregory. She is survived by her companion Rick Bonner; son and daughter "by choice" Tim Lightfoot and Heather Lightfoot King; siblings Gleason Gregory and Roxanne Gregory; half-siblings Gavin Gregory and Jolene Riegle; step-mother Maxine Gregory; "soul-sister" Mary O'Brien; and more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends than could fit on a 36' Catalina.

Michelle requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following organizations that were dear to her: Possum Kingdom Women's Scholarship Fund, Union Gospel Mission, and Hospice of Wichita Falls.
