Mary Textor Obituary

Mary Anne McAnany Textor

Mrs. Mary Anne McAnany Textor, age 92 years, Shawnee, KS, passed away on Fri., Sept. 6, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House. A (near) life-long resident of Shawnee and parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph G. Textor, Sr.; their infant son, Christopher Jude; her parents, Robert A. McAnany, Sr. and Anne M. Gumminger McAnany; and her brothers, Robert A. McAnany, Jr., Pilot Officer, RAF, and Louis S. McAnany (WWII veteran USMC). She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Rose Lee McAnany Van Mol; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Jo Ann Buckley McAnany; her children and their spouses, Ralph G. Textor, Jr. (Iliana), Robert L. Textor (Theresa), Mary E. Textor Mollentine (Mark), Theodore E. Textor (Elizabeth), Patrick J. Textor (Christine) and Anne M. Textor; her grandchildren, Amanda (Jerry), Robert, J.D., Christopher, Helen, Lauren, Ariana, Alana and Grace; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mom was a proud alumna of St. Joseph's Grade and High Schools and Mount St. Scholastica College (now Benedictine College). She worked as an assembler on B-25s at North American Aviation in Fairfax District during the war, and then later worked at TWA where she was an illustrator for the company paper, drawing her favorite cartoon, "Wing Ding." At TWA she met Dad, a lead aircraft mechanic, through their mutual friends, "Uncle" Earl and his wife, Juanita. They married on St. Valentine's Day at St. Joseph's Church and had over 47 wonderful years together.

Thanks to TWA, our Dad had a great job he truly enjoyed, and our family had many wonderful travels, some of us even going around the world! Home is the house Dad and his friends built for Mom on land that has been in Mom's family since the 1870s. As Mom said, they had it all!

Mom was a former volunteer at St. Mary's Food Kitchen and a past member of St. Agnes's Circle, the Funeral Luncheon group, the Resurrection Choir (the "Dead Beats"), the Eucharistic Adorers, and the Ladies Guild (formerly, the Altar Society) of St. Joseph's Church.

Our family is forever grateful to Mom's pastor, Fr. Michael Hawken of St. Joseph's Church; visiting priest Fr. Thomas of St. Thomas More's Church; all of her very fine doctors, nurses and care partners; her dear friends who wrote to and visited with her; and to Shawnee Mission Medical Center and Kansas City Hospice House. You all helped so much to make Mom's passing a happy and holy death.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., Sat., Sept. 14, 2013, at St. Joseph's Church, Shawnee, with the Holy Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 a.m.; graveside services immediately thereafter at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Shawnee. Our family very much appreciates flowers and memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice House or the Charity of Donor's choice. Thanks Mom for all your love and a job well done!
