A memorial visitation for Mary Ellen Rogers, 84, Lawrence, will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. Mary passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at her home.
Mary was born on August 25, 1937 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Eugene and Geneva (White) Corel.
She was a special deputy for the Douglas County Sheriff's office until she retired in April of 1998.
She was a member of the NALC Auxiliary, Friends Church and Clinton Church.
She married Bobby "Bob" Rogers on February 5, 1959 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2017.
Survivors include her sons, Eric Rogers and wife, Kim; Rodney Rogers; daughter, Karen Rogers Noreen; two grandchildren, Haley Holdredge, Adam Noreen; and two sisters, Barbara McCoy and husband, Jim and Gay Clarkson and husband, Larry.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

I am so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. Your mom was such a nice person, as was your dad. The world is a better place because of both of them. I'm thinking of you and sending love and hugs.
