Mary Jones Obituary

Mary Frances Powers Easley Jones, 91, of Danville entered her eternal rest on November 19, 2025 at Commonwealth Senior Living, Danville.

Mary Frances was born on September 22, 1934 to the late Lloyd Thomas (Fitz) Powers and Hallie Blanche Atkins Powers.

Following the death of her mother at an early age, Mary and her sister lived in Buffalo, NY. Later, Mary moved to Newport News, VA, then Clarksville, VA and finally, returned to Danville, VA.

Mary graduated from George Washington High School in 1952. She moved to Houston, TX and graduated from Houston Community College. She retired after many years of service with DJH Services, LLC. In Houston, TX and moved back to Danville. She worked at Swanson Motors, Dan River Mills and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. During her working career, she prepared taxes for local families and businesses.

Mary loved sewing and quilting. Her children and grandchildren received many quilts and clothing made by her hands. She led a full life and was loved by all her family and many friends. Mary will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her three sons, Ralph Easley, of Madison Heights, VA, Ronald Easley, of Clarksville, VA and Ricky Easley (Brenda), of Chatham, VA; five grandchildren, Early Ianello, Amanda Easley, Brad Easley, Marion Easley and Morgan Easley; nine great-grandchildren; as well as three half-brothers, Thomas Powers, Sr. (Linda), George Powers (Marilee) and Mark Powers (Tracey).

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Carson; a brother, Lloyd Powers, Jr. and a grandson, Jeff Easley.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA with Pastor Richard Motley officiating.

Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main Chapel, is respectfully serving the Easley/Jones family.
