Mary Grinter Obituary

Mary Jane Grinter, 85, Lawrence, KS, passed away Friday January 27, 2023 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday February 2, 2023 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. A service will be held at 6pm.The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service.

Mary Jane was born December 6, 1937 in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of Clarence and Ruby (Danforth) Brown. She was an artist and mother of 3 children. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii. She was united in marriage on June 3,1958 in Miami, OK to Jim Grinter who survives of the home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Tonganoxie. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Brown in 1951 and her sister, Mona Norman in 2001.

Mary Jane was known for bringing love, smiles and a little bit of mischief. You could find her spending time supporting grandchildren, painting landscapes or enjoying a movie with Jim. Often she found herself painted into a corner. Her art is treasured by many friends and family.

Survivors include; her husband, Jim Grinter, of the home; two sons Mark (Helena) Grinter, Manhattan, KS, Ted (Kris) Grinter, Tonganoxie; one daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Stilgenbauer, Lawrence, KS; six grandchildren, Anna, James, Sidney, Callie, Evan and Emma; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial donations to Douglas County Visiting Nurses at Kansasvna.org (200 Maine St, Lawrence KS 66044) or Lewy Body Dementia Association at LBDA.org.
