I used to own the Pizza Shoppe in Lawrence. Mary would buy 50lb sacks of flour from me. We'd always load it up, and I would ask her how she was going to get it out of her trunk. She'd always say she'll handle it. The whole Flory family became good friends of mine over the years!! Loved the homemade bread Kathy would bring me.

My heart goes out to all Mary's family on her passing. I am sure this was Mary's wish to go "home" and thankful God had provided a place for us to go. That final closing of life with Mother still here is over and that makes it so painful for those left. She was such a dear, sweet lady and just thank God she could go. Much love and prayers to you all, Ruby Wagoner

Donald Lee: So very sorry. Knew your Mom from her trips to Pratt County when I was a child. As a teenager I played softball on the makeshift field east of her childhood home. Many homeruns to the trench silo way out there! She was a childhood friend of my day and the same age. My Mom would like to be at the funeral as with Paul, but at 90 years old travel is difficult. Our thoughts are with you and your entire family at this time.

Mary has been an inspiration for me from the first I met her...initially as a fellow vendor at the Lawrence Farmer's Market, and in recent years as I've participated with her church district. She was truly salt of the earth and a shining light to guide others and offer hope. She will be remembered and missed.

Love & Prayers to all the family! While visiting Vintage Park this Fall, walking by the room Mary had previously been in on my way to Mom's room, I missed her sweet smile & hello as she rocked in her chair by the door. She is a lady never to be forgotten! Wish we could be there for the services. Love from Dale &

I looked forward to seeing Mary at the Farmer's Market. She had so many things in common with my late Grandmother. Visiting with Mary brought back sweet memories. Both of these ladies had a strong faith, loved family, were great cooks, were small in stature but had a lot of inner strength. Mary will be missed but her smile and caring nature will not be forgotten.

I didn't know your mother personally but bought many a baked good from her at the Farmers Market...she always had a smile and kind words for all that met her. Everyone knew she baked with a heart full of love and joy as her goodies were beyond anything I'd ever had the pleasure of tasting. You were all very blessed to have such a beautiful woman in your lives.
My Deepest and Most Sincere Condolences,

Mary taught me a most life changing truth many years ago...someone was "feeling sorry" for her because her son Ralph was soon leaving for Ch--a and would be "so far away" and I pray I never forget "HER REPLY" floating from the lips of a most beautiful and TOTALLY PEACEFUL countenance, MY heart heard these most profound words (listen closely all who have loved ones who have responded or will respond to Father's call to reach the unreached at the uttermost parts of the world) my son (Ralph) will never be more than A PRAYER AWAY!!!!...and Mary went home with TWO SONS "only a prayer away" serving Father on the other side of the world! PTL :)
