Marsha Martin Obituary

Marsha L. Martin

August 31, 1946 – January 9, 2022

Marsha Martin's full life of love and service was peacefully realized on January 9, 2022 in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Marsha was born on August 31, 1946, in Osawatomie, Kansas to Wayman and Vivian (Vann) Johnson.

She is survived by her significant other, Drew Cason of Kansas City, Mo., three sisters, Diana Johnson (Dale Bajema); Sharon Stovall (Tom Stovall); Marva Kimball; one brother, La Van Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Marsha didn't have children of her own, but she was a second "Mom" to so many of those nieces and nephews, and other young people in her orbit. She was genuine. She was kind. She was an anchor. She was, and always will be loved by them all.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Dorla Sullivan, Shirley Floyd, Lewis Johnson and Dickie Johnson.

Marsha was a free spirit all her life; she lived and worked in several states over the years – Kansas, Illinois, California, Northern Virginia, Georgia and Missouri. She enjoyed different experiences and new ideas; she wrote two books that were submitted to editors and publishers, for which she received considerable encouragement and interest. She was very creative and artistic, in several different venues.

Marsha was always active in her community. She was involved with the American Legion Post 94 in Leavenworth, KS for a number of years where she held a variety of important volunteer and elected positions. She developed many long-time relationships with members of the Post, their families and others.

Marsha was employed in Lawrence, KS with CETA (Comprehensive Employment and Training ACT), at Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital in Kansas City, MO at BSKB (IPL) in Northern Virginia. She worked as a bartender at a number of establishments in Kansas and Missouri.

She loved family gatherings, picnics, any get together to visit and check on everything and everyone. Let's not overlook her love for bingo.

Marsha loved to travel, especially to the Pacific NW and the Washington, D.C. Metro Area – but more than anything she loved traveling to "Round-ups" and "Anniversary Parties" all over the country with her beloved Zodiacs MC, located in Kansas City, MO. She absolutely treasured her more than 45-year association with them. They are truly her second family.

Marsha was liked and loved by all with who she came in contact.

We all are better because she was here.
