William Williams Obituary

Williams, Jr, William Everett Age 95 William "Wiggie" was born September 25, 1925 in Washington, D.C., the son of Everett and Virginia Williams. He spent his early days in Washington, D.C. and Cherrydale before moving to Falls Church, Virginia in 1953. He was married to his late wife, Lorraine Thompson Williams for nearly 46 years. Later, he moved to Springfield, Virginia where he resided for many years with his loving companion, Maggie Bible. In the summer of 2020, he moved to Anderson, South Carolina. Wiggie proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the Washington Gas Light Co., for 32 years before retiring and embarking on a new career working for Fairfax County Sheriff's Office Courthouse and Courthouse Security Office from 1990 to 1996. He was a Mason and Master of the George C. Whiting Masonic Lodge, No.22 in 1959. Wiggie was also very active in the Shriner's Kena Temple in Fairfax where he was a Colonel in the Legion of Honor. He loved baseball and was a longtime baseball coach for the Falls Church Babe Ruth League and the American Legion League. He was also an avid fan of the Washington Nationals and the Washington Redskins. Wiggie was known for his compassion, generosity, love of family, and his unwavering sense of humor. He passed away on December 23, 2020 in Anderson, South Carolina. He is survived by his son, Bill Williams, his daughter, Cheryl Gardner, grandchildren, Lindsay Gardner, Keith Gardner, and Greg Williams, and his great-grandchildren Sydney Bland, Everett Gardner, and Ruby Gardner. Other beloved family includes Michael Bible, Rita and Michael Mahoney, and the entire Bible family. A memorial service is planned for Spring 2021 in Virginia. I only met him once, but Wiggie struck me as a genuine, fun-loving soul. I know he was greatly loved and will be missed.
