Margaret Mary Daicoff, 84, passed away on February 15, 2016, in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born on April 17, 1931 in Detroit Michigan to Francis Joseph and Margaret Mary (Blackwood) Smith. At the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, she met and married Darwin William Daicoff who became a Professor of Public Administration and Economics at The University of Kansas. Margaret lived in Lawrence for almost 60 years, spending the most recent years in long term care.

Over the years, Margaret was often my partner across the bridge table! Her wicked sense of humor was quite evident. A little story might be appreciated by the family. In a foursome one day, when I made a bit of a boastful comment on a play of the cards, she said, "Well, aren't you just the Queen of Greed!". We all burst out laughing. The next time we played together, I produced a crown just for her when it was an appropriate gesture. We joked about that comment often. Anyway, time with Margaret was always lively and enlightening. I had many an enjoyable serious discussion with her along with the fun times. I am so glad I was able to have a short visit with her about a month ago. She was sharp as ever! I will miss her very much. I send my condolences to her daughters and family for this huge loss in your lives.

My deepest condolences to Margaret's daughters. My memories of Margaret and Darwin are their sparkle and wit. During my years at the Spencer Museum of Art I was always delighted to see them coming through the door. They were among the best of the best.

I am sorry for your loss. May prayer comfort you.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Pray constantly."

Margaret had a zeal for life and education that inspired many. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Trust in the hope that Margaret will be able to rejoin family and friends and continue living life in Jesus promised a resurrection (Jo 3:16). Please accept my deepest sympathy. - Andrew

My deepest condolences. May you continue to find comfort from family and friends at this time of great sorrow. And may you find comfort in knowing that when God restores Paradise, he will undo all causes of suffering. (Ps. 37:11) Then our tears of sorrow will become tears of great joy.
