Marc Coan Obituary

Marc Clarence Coan, 56, passed on peacefully in his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on August 21, 2018. He was born in Lawrence to Rebecca Ann Lamoreaux of Waterville, Kans. and Clark Coan of Barnes, Kans. on March 23, 1962. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1980 and from the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism in 1986. He lived in Portland, Ore. for many years where he was a flight instructor, created and managed an online pilot supply business, and brokered airplane and real estate sales. Aviation was his life's great passion and at the young age of 19 he piloted a plane to The Bahamas. He later flew freight in Nebraska and was a flight instructor beginning in 1986 and taught pilots how to fly safely in dangerous mountain terrain. Marc married Lisa Morley in Hood River, Oregon on May 19, 1999. They later moved to Taos, New Mexico where they founded and operated a shop and website called "Made in New Mexico!". They moved to Santa Fe in 2008 and sold the business in 2013. Survivors include his wife Lisa of the home, brothers Clark Henry Coan of Lawrence and Edward Eugene Coan of Kansas City, Missouri and cousin Rod Lamoreaux of Waterville, who was like a brother to him. Private services will be held at a later date. Marc loved nature and advocated for the conservation of natural areas. With that in mind, memorials may be sent to either the New Mexico Chapter or Kansas Chapter of the Nature Conservancy.

I grew up with Marc, we went to Cordley together and lived in the same neighborhood for years. I haven't seen Marc since graduating from high school but I would still like to offer my condolences. I will miss the kid I played tetherball with during reccess.

Edward will be sorely missed. He was so good to take Dad for an airplane ride when he was here. Dad just loved it. Itwas a pleasure to Dad that his sister's son thought enough of him to do that.
Lisa,I want you to know that my whole family wishes we could send you comfort. The lose of Marc makes us very sad.

It was indeed a sad day when our son, Michael, told us that your cancer was back. We knew you when you were just three old. You visited our home and raided our cookie tin many times a week for many years. I still remember the utter disbelief on your face, when you visited us in Australia some forty years later and I offered you cookies from the same cookie jar.
You shall be missed.
Dear Lisa, please accept our deepest condolences. He was such a bright boy! Rest in Peace.
