Lois Hamilton Obituary

Lois Marie Windett Hamilton, 83, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away September 26, 2022. Born in Eudora, Kansas to the late Fred and Marie Neis, Lois never stopped thinking of her beloved birthplace as home. Lois grew up working alongside her father on the family farm, graduated from Eudora High School in 1957 and shortly after bought her first farm at 19 years old. With an aptitude for understanding property and genius business savvy, Lois would be part of many ventures including owning the Eudora lumberyard, taking over distressed hardware stores, buying struggling hotels, investing in small companies before they got large (Lowes, Home Depot), and land- lots of land.

Lois' business mind was matched by her generosity. Never one to accept accolades, much of her philanthropy will remain unknown. She quietly facilitated the education of many people, helped maintain several churches, and humbly supplied for those she witnessed were in need. After reading an article concerning Eudora's search for a sustainable and reliable water source for its residents, Lois reached out to city leaders. Wells drilled on Lois' protected farmland now provide Eudora with 100% of the city's drinking water (over 195 million gallons a year). Lois believed it was her Christian obligation to "to conserve and protect God given land and water resources and to provide my abundance for future generations." Lois reflected the fundamentals she learned from her family, Sunday school, confirmation, and life which was to be kind, be just and be loving.

Lois was preceded in death by husbands Wallace Windett (1994) and John Hamilton (2018), as well as, brother, Harold Eugene Neis (1998).

Lois' daily prayers included all of us, frequently by name. She will be missed most by her many surviving extended family members, her friends (too numerous to list), and her Barcelona Baptist Church family.

A 2pm graveside service will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 at CedarVale Cemetery, 200 Minorca Rd, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas 71909. Dr. Jon Stubblefield, Pastor and Willard Zeiser, Associate Pastor will officiate.
