Lee Evatt Obituary

Lee "Tiny" Owen Evatt, 91, of Pine Bluff, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at home.
Born Sept. 3, 1920, in Vilonia, he was a son of the late John Bunyan and Savannah Elizabeth Simpson Evatt.
He was reared and received his education in Vilonia.
In 1943, he joined the United States Navy, serving on the USS New Orleans 4th Division during World War II. After his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged in 1945.
Tiny spent most of his working career with Strong Company, Inc. in Pine Bluff. He was one of the first employees of the company, starting out as a Job Sight Foreman, being promoted to a job superintendent and then to a plant superintendent, until his retirement.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Armina Lucille Evatt; and a son, James Owen Evatt.
He is survived by his sons, Carlton Ray Merriam of Dumas, Texas, and Thomas Lee Paul Evatt and wife, Brenda, of Pine Bluff; his daughter, Shirley Ann Evatt Armstrong of Grand Lake, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Leroy Evatt of Little Rock and George Ray Evatt of Conway; and his sisters, Inez Evatt Coker of Vilonia, Grace Evatt Reed and Clara Evatt Baker, both of Conway.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son.
Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Vilonia Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Robinson's.
