Larry Schaefer Obituary

Larry John Schaefer, 74, of Maricopa, AZ entered into the arms of his Savior on November 6, 2017, following a lengthy illness. Larry was born on March 19, 1943 in St. Joseph, MO. Adopted as a young child by John and Dena Belle (Waller) Schaefer, he attended Edison Elementary School and graduated from Central High School (St. Joseph, MO). He received his bachelor's degree in political science from Drake University (Des Moines, IA). Larry moved to Kansas to marry Jan, his high school sweetheart, with the plan of moving back to Arizona at the end of the school year. Three years ago, and thirty-two years later, they returned to Arizona to check off one more item on his bucket list. His love for his family was only superseded by his love for the Lord, and he derived great fulfillment in sharing the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ as a lay minister. Larry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jan (Neese); Son, Rob Schaefer (Wendy); Sisters, Rose Mary Coffman (Dave), Connie Jones (Bill), Jeanne Cooper, Ruth Rieder; Brother-in-law, Bob Neese (Corinne) and grandson Blake Walker. A celebration of Larry's life will be held in Arizona at a later date.
