LAS VEGAS - Larry Dolesh, 74, of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016.
He was born on May 26, 1942, on a farm near Stanton to Edward and Elsie (Zacek) Dolesh. In 1945, the family moved to a farm near Clarkson, where he attended Clarkson High School. In 1958, the family moved to Columbus, where he graduated from Columbus High School. He graduated from Wayne State Teachers College and on June 28, 1969, he married Cheryl Glassman at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Omaha. They made their home in Omaha for 10 years, when they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where Larry worked as an accountant for Jackie Gaughan at the El Cortez Casino and moved into the Union Plaza as vice president for the next 21 years. He retired on May 1, 2000, to spent time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cheryl; son, Matthew (Denise) Dolesh; daughters, Rhonda Veale, Bethany (Reece) Oswalt and Megan Dolesh; loving grandchildren, Lucas, Spencer and Zachery Dolesh, Cecilia Veale and Addison, Kendall and Payton Oswalt. Other survivors in Columbus include his mother, Elsie Dolesh; sister, Arlys Wehrer; brother, Brian Dolesh; niece, Kendra (Michael) Becker; and daughters, Bailey and Natalie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Dolesh; grandparents; brother-in-law, Kennard Wehrer; and nephews, Rodney Wehrer and Lonny Wehrer.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, in Las Vegas. Visitation will be 6-8 a.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., in Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood or giving to your favorite charity.
