Kelly Carson Obituary

Memorial services for Kelly Lynn Carson, 38, Lawrence, Kansas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. She died on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital from complications of pneumonia. Kelly Lynn Carson was born August 21, 1973 in Topeka, Kansas, at St. Francis Hospital. Kenneth and Patricia Meyer took Kelly into their home in 1980. Even though Kelly was mentally disabled and was health impaired with epileptic seizures and Cystic Fibrosis she exhibited a constant strength to stay in our lives. She graduated from Lawrence High School in May of 1995. She worked at Cottonwood Inc. in the work enrichment program with personal assistance and love from Corinna Wood and Jacque Miller. Her laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family requests making a donation in Kellys name to Cottonwood Inc. She is survived by her foster parents, Kenneth and Patricia Meyer; foster sisters, Jessica Edwards and Lisa Willard; her beloved grandfather, Norman Edee; birth parents, Vicki Fisher and Jim Carson, both of Topeka, Kansas; and sister, Lori Olesky.

Dear Patty and Family,

I was so saddened when Beth told me the news of Kelly. I'm not sure you'd remember me but I was her Para working under Shelly Komisar in the mid-70's at Cordley and Kelly had a big influence on me deciding to get my Master's in Special Education. It's so nice to know that you have been a constant for her for all of these years. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Nancy Plunkett

Ken and Patty, I am sorry to see that Kelly has passed. She lived a very fullfilled life because of the two of you. I know she enjoyed her days at Cottonwood and had many friends that will miss her.
Take care!

Ken and Patty AND Vicki and Jim:
It is never easy to lose a loved one as I believe it speaks to the depth of one's committment and love for that person, especially a child. It matters not the age, but it seems that the loss of those who are young is particularly more difficult to bear. Challenges and their remedies bring smiles and wonderful memories afterward and I firmly believe that the Lord Jesus will touch you, from time to time, with the rememberance of Kelly's smile and the wonderful memories she brought to your minds, hearts, and lives. Aunt Lavina and Cousin Charlotte keep you, one and all, on our hearts and in our prayers. God bless you always.

Ken and Patty, you have been by Kelly's side for so many years. It is because of your love, caring and diligence that she was with us for as long as she was. I have many fond memories of her days at LHS. Best wishes and my condolences. You will be in my prayers as you get used to your "new normal" without her.
