Kaylyn Munro Obituary

Kaylyn Munro, of Lawrence, passed away quietly on Saturday, December 27. She had been under care at Heritage Gardens in Oskaloosa the past year and a half for advanced degenerative dementia. She is survived by her husband Brian Boyce of Lawrence, her daughter and son-in-law Lily Boyce and Will Rigby, of Brooklyn, New York, and her sister Christa Munro, of Fayetteville, Georgia.

Kaylyn was born in 1958 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and attended Cheyenne Mountain High School. Kaylyn was a graduate of the University of Kansas, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and printmaking. She pursued further studies in the University's School of Architecture and Design. She worked for numerous architecture firms in the area, receiving many awards for her work. As the lead designer for the renovation of Teller's restaurant in Lawrence she received the Kansas Alliance for Preservation award. Her design for the Southwest Boulevard Pump Station in Kansas City, Missouri received the Kansas City AIA award, the Kansas City Urban Design award, and the Brick in Architecture of the Year award.

Kaylyn went on to work successfully as an artist, teaching at the Lawrence Arts Center and winning awards at juried shows and selling her work both nationwide and abroad.

She will be remembered for the light she brought to the world.
