Julianne Zajic Obituary

Julianne "Julie" Zajic died at the age of 88 on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Olathe Hospice House after suffering complications from a stroke. Born to Martin and Avis Keene (Keenie) Jost in Lawrence, KS, on September 10, 1937, Julie graduated from Lawrence High School in 1955 before attending the University of Kansas and joining the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

In August 1969, she married Gordon Zajic, relocating to Delphos, KS, where they started their family. Gordon preceded her in death on October 31, 1978. Julie is survived by her children, Anne Elizabeth McMillan (Peter) of Lawrence, KS, and Curtis Robert Zajic of Steamboat Springs, CO; two grandsons, Jackson Robert McMillan and Cooper Richard McMillan; and two nieces, Lisa and Gretchen Jost. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Doug Jost and nephew Henry Jost.

Julie served on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of America in Central Kansas and was active in Big Brothers and Big Sisters, PEO Chapter AZ, and St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge, spending time with her family and supporting her grandsons' activities.

Memorial contributions in Julie's honor may be made to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church or Big Brothers and Big Sisters, care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Her funeral will take place at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Lawrence, KS, at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, with a cocktail hour following to celebrate her life.
