I am so, so sorry. Judy was a class act all the way, smart as a whip, and funny as hell. I hope she and Chef John and Chef Omar are cooking up some amazing meals up there!

Judy and I used to push the boundaries of humor in German class at West, but one of my favorite memories of her was when we were at KU, she and I ran into each other in an overnight ticket line outside Allen Fieldhouse getting tickets for visiting family and friends. It was BITTER cold, and there was this sleeping bag that another friend of mine and I kept swapping through the night. In the morning when they let us in, Judy comes over and starts rolling up the bag. I said, That's yours? Why didn't you say something? Judy laughed and said, You looked worse for wear and needed it. I still marvel at the memory. That was Judy. It was a privilege to have known her.

The first time I met Judy Jones was on a beautiful sunny evening out on her deck overlooking the lake. Nick and I had been playing golf and he sprung me on Judy much like the child bringing home an abandoned puppy. We noshed and consumed cocktails and soon discovered we shared several passions; predominately cooking, dining, and gardening. Her acerbic comebacks kept me on my toes and our bantering continued while the cocktails flowed. At some point in the conversation I uttered some inebriated politically incorrect statement, where by Judy just harrumphed, gave me a disgusted look, and dumped the contents of her cocktail on my head. Nick about choked on his cigar from the look on my face and I truly loved Judy from that moment on..... Rest in peace Judy, you were great friend and I'm gonna miss you tremendously.

I was lucky enough to know Judy from the 'early days'-high school, college and then beyond. I envied her athleticism--a fellow team member, I watched from the end of the bench. Later on I realized how funny and genuine she was and I count myself lucky to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with Nick and her family.

I wondered why the world felt emptier, and I thought it was just the "Easter Effect." Judy probably made more memories for her friends than about anyone I know. Is this where I quote Bob Hope?

I called Judy a "foodie" once. She was very nice about it, but I never did it again! I knew her best when we were much younger, pre-Nick. She was a very smart and kind lady.

I'm still reeling from the news. Judy kept all of us on our toes with her vast knowledge, point of view, and her ascerbic wit. We will all be challenged to find a way to fill the whole she has left in our hearts. Peace.

I will miss Judy's humor and sarcastic wit, both in person and on Facebook. Also her knowledge of food and restaurants as well as her umbrage at being called a "Foodie".
