Juana Barajas Obituary

Juana Barajas, 93, of Lawrence, Kansas passed at her home on May 22, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones.

Juana was born on May 30, 1931 in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Juan and Magdalene (Gutierrez) Barajas.

She worked at the Eldrige Hotel in House Keeping, Earl's Pizza, and many other jobs on the side. Juana enjoyed staying busy, she loved collecting dolls, coins, trips to the casinos, she enjoyed dancing and music, but most importantly she enjoyed the time she shared with her family.

Survivors include her Children and their spouses: Albert Gauna, Ricardo (Angie) Allen, and Alice (Julio) Galindo, 3 Stepchildren Pam, Mike, and Terri Hadl. 3 Grandchildren: Selena Jaimez, Melissa (Brett) Thoms, And Juanita (Jose) Guzman all of Topeka. Juana has 21 Great Grandchildren and 35 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Juana was preceded in death by her Parents Juan and Magdalene Barajas, husband Ralph Gauna, daughter Doris Gauna, a grandson Michael Jaimez, a great grandson Alex Alvarez, and 3 sisters. Mary Garcia, Terri Gallegos, and Margaret Villegas.

Rosary recitation will start at 6pm with a visitation to follow until 8pm on June 13th, 2025 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary; 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14th, 2025 at St. John's Catholic Church, 1234 Kentucky Street, Lawrence, KS 66044. Memorial contributions may be made in Juana's name to St. John's Catholic Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
