John Lederer Obituary

VALLEY FALLS - John E. Lederer, 72, of Valley Falls, KS passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024 at his home. He was born February 3, 1952 in Holton, KS, the son of John Edward and Effie Viola (Worner) Lederer.

John graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1970. He graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor's degree in business.

John married Joyce E. Enright on May 5, 1990 in Wichita, KS. They had 2 children, Chase and Casey.

John was a lifelong resident of the Valley Falls community. He served as treasurer of the Valley Falls Athletic Association for over 20 years, secretary of the Delaware Township Board for 4 years, and was a school board member for USD 338. He enjoyed coaching his sons' pee-wee and little league baseball teams and was an avid sports fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, Chiefs, and Royals.

John was employed with Shelter Insurance in Topeka and held positions as an adjuster, supervisor, and branch manager. He was later employed with Nationwide Insurance as a Claims Manager until his retirement.

Survivors include Joyce Lederer; 2 sons, Chase Lederer (Shelli), and Casey Lederer (Mady); a brother, Dean Lederer (Mary); a brother-in-law, Rand Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Effie Lederer, and sister Carol Hopkins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday March 10, 2024 at Kendall State Bank Community Hall.
