Again and I will every anniversary of John's passing. A true Friend. I was on the Faculty at Haskell Indian Nations University, a position became available in the Social Sciences Dept for a Psychology Professor. My first thought was John Howland. Shoot, it took one interview for Haskell to select John. There were so many Native Students who learned from John, not only the Behavioral Sciences but in life in general. John so impacted young Natives and quickly becoming the favorite. I will always remember John as a testament in helping people regardless of culture, John became "one of us" as the Native Students would often say with an immeasurable heart.
Valerie and kids, please know that many many became a better person just from knowing John.
Val, please contact me thru my email in this remembrance page.

John was a super individual. Purchased a vehicle from John, a 1969 Chevelle Super Sport. John knew I didn't have much money being a student with a family but John "sold" me the car with no regard for profit. That was John Howland. Thinking of everyone before himself...a sincere person.
An intelligent individual.
A deserved place in heaven for a such a complete person....John Howland, my Friend.

John was a friend. A caring and generous person.
Several of us all started a friendship with John & Val
at Ronnie's Apts. ( Robinsons' & Huggins')
John being an athlete & an educator used his talents in influencing many of us to be better people.
May you rest my friend, you deserve a special place in heaven! My prayers to Val & kids!

John was my baseball coach and father to my friend . He would never get upset with you if you made an error on the field or in life. He would use it to teach you to be a better human. One of the most gentle people I've ever known. He would do anything to help a person in need. He was also just fun to be around and always made you feel welcome.
