John Craver Obituary

John Kenneth Craver, Jr., 64, passed on May 29, 2018 after a long illness. The family will greet friends on Friday, June 8 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private burial June 9 at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Around Lawrence, "Big John" was appreciated for his BBQ catering. For many years he worked for the City of Lawrence traffic department and kept our streets safe. John loved good food, good music and a good story. He was a talented photographer and cook. He enjoyed traveling with his wife of 43 years, Teresa.

John was born September 27, 1953 in St. Louis, MO, the son of John Kenneth Craver, Sr. and Iris Eileen (Brock) Craver. He is survived by his wife Teresa and three sisters Mary, Carole and Iris. He loved all of his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and valued his friends.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Theresa, have not seen you for a long while but think of you and Patsy often as I travel the same roads we took to KAVTS all those years ago. You have my sincere sympathy as I lost my Stan a year ago last month. The journey through grief is the longest walk you will ever take and you are on the road alone.
