John Brahler Obituary

John Douglas Brahler passed away on March 27, 2025, in Princeton, Texas. Born on July 24, 1952, in Fort Riley, Kansas, John was cherished by those closest to him and known for his thoughtful nature as a loving spouse of 40 years, a proud father, and a loyal friend, all complemented by his distinctive bone-dry sense of humor.

John lived the majority of his 72 years in Lawrence, Kansas. Professionally, he succeeded in his roles at Pringle Dental Lab and Brahler Products. His craftsmanship as a denture artisan and leadership as a caring manager at Brahler Products characterized his long career.

John was an ardent, self-taught golfer, who won the Kansas Cup in 1995 and achieved four holes-in-one. His talents extended to virtuosic whistling, which brought joy to those around him. He was an avid coin collector and master doodler with an affinity for classic rock, Spaghetti Westerns, and the comedy stylings of W.C. Fields and Johnny Carson. He appreciated the little things: a strong, black cup of coffee, a meticulously clean car, a fresh-cut lawn, and a good cheeseburger. Fortunately, his natural musical talent and golf skills live on in his kids; unfortunately, the dry humor and dad jokes will too.

John leaves behind his wife Kelli, children Grace (Neil) and George (Chelsey), grandchildren Morel and Vitales, and Sylas the dog. He is also survived by his in-laws Bob and Marcia Kerr, and the Brahler siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella Brahler.

The family will hold a private gathering to celebrate John's rich life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the 24 Hour Club in Dallas, Texas, honoring John's spirit of caring friendship and community support. We also ask that you think of him the next time you play a round of golf.

I could write a book on "Brahler"! The obituary describes him to a "tee", pun intended! Throughout High School and a good deal after that, we partied, played golf (always for money) and then went on with our lives in different parts of the country. He to Texas, me to California. We stayed in touch through Christmas cards, well, I always sent a Christmas card...to which John called me out of the blue a few years ago, and said, "Who are all the rest of the people in these pictures you keep sending? We laughed and caught up again on our latest kids, grandkids etc. I will remember him most for his long golf swing, a pretty slight draw that would find the fairway, way down there! Great knowing you John! I am sure we will meet again someday! Respect to Kelli and all the family.
