After moving to Lawrence with two children in tow our family met John and Carole. We had a lot in common particularly our love for children. They introduced us to many people in Lawrence and we became friends us. Most notable is music and great games of Trivia Pursuit . Johns nature was to be generous with his time (teaching us how to wallpaper our house) . Patient, while gathering in their home for events and attending Violin programs for all the kids. We know he will be missed as he was a wonderful addition to any activity . Always the teacher. My fondest memory is a flute concert at KU. Looking very formal in his TUX, Carole beaming with pride beside him. His talent unmeasurable, his humility touching all of us. A wonderful moment for everyone. Thank you John for being a part of our lives. Sincerely, Kathleen Breunig -Bolton Maize

John was a gentle, quiet man, a kind soul that made the world a much better place. For one of us he was a colleague at KU for nearly a decade, and for both of us he was a chamber music companion for about fifteen years in the Spencer Consort. John was a superb flutist and musician, a steady and knowledgeable presence in rehearsals and performances, and an inspiration with his wonderful musicality. We loved hearing about his family and children, and his many stories of a happy life with Carole and a full house. We will miss John always and wish his family peace and blessings with your memories and each other.
