Joel Carlson Obituary
Joel Ed Carlson, 75, of Shawnee, KS passed away Feb. 17th, 2014. Services will be held at Community Covenant Church of Lenexa with the visitation from 6 to 8 pm Mon. Feb. 24th and the memorial service 1 pm Tues. Feb. 25th. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, KS. Joel was born Jan. 6, 1939 to Maurice R. and Edna Carlson. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1957, and graduated from Emporia State University. Joel worked as an Assistant Vice President with Security Bank of Kansas City. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joy Carlson, children; Mike Mann, and Mindy Robinson (Roy), grandchildren; Matthew Mann, Blake Robinson, and Michael Mann (Katie), along with their son, Mason.
He is also survived by his sister Donna Schneck (Merle), and brothers, Bob Carlson (Karen Sue), Paul Carlson (Shan), and Marc Carlson (Donna).
In our hearts, Joel will be missed for his thoughtfulness, nurturing and dry wit. Memorial contributions in Joel's memory may be made to the church.

I was heartbroken to learn Joel passed away. He was a wonderful man with a kind heart, and I feel blessed to have grown up next door to him. I hope you all find comfort in the happy memories you have of him. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I wish there was something I could do to help ease your pain. I didn't know Joel, but I know his Daughter Mindy and know that he must have been a great man to have raised his Daughter to be the person she is today. I would like to offer my condolences to all of his family.
