Joe Calovich Obituary

Joe Calovich, 92, Tonganoxie, KS, died Monday January 30, 2012 at Providence Place Nursing Center, Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday February 3, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church, where the Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Joe was born on July 6, 1919 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Matthew and Lubi Makar Calovich. He was a Seabee for the US Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Judy Ellis in 1941 in Welborn, KS. She preceded him in death in 2005. Survivors include 5 sons, James Michael, Wasilla, AK, John Stephen, Chapman, KS, Thomas Albert, Robert Edward and Mark Richard Calovich, all of Tonganoxie; 3 daughters, Judith Ann Cline, Tulsa, OK, Catherine Marie Cline, Branson, MO, and Mary Elizabeth Bowman, Kansas City, KS; 3 sisters, Helen Kritzer, Olathe, Catherine Hill and Dorothy O?Toole, both of Shawnee; 23 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
