Oh Joan, I was so sorry to learn of your passing. How much I was in awe of you as we shared our time at the Institute of Health Research. Our desks were in the same room facing each other. You were such an inspiration to me. I remember the publication of your first book. We shared a camaraderie and bond in those days as two professional women dedicated to our careers. I've never forgotten you. Thank you for being there for me. Our friendship meant so much. You touched my life .
Sweet restful peace for you and healing for your family. I send love.

I ran my first marathon in 1983 in Dallas, Texas with inspiration from her book, Running Free. I'm 65, still run, and plan to do the Tokyo Marathon in 2023 to complete all 6 major marathons. I'm so sorry she died. Her legacy will continue with me. You have my deepest sympathies.

Don’t rule out women for many things that they can accomplish. Dr Ullyot was definitely aware of that. Thanks for her recognition of what woman are capable of. Prayers offered to the family and my condolences.
