Ken I never have met you and the children. But Joan and I played together a lot from little kids to teenagers. Our parents were good friends. Joan was a wonderful person and such a joy to be with. I wish you and your children the best.

Dear Family and Friends,
Father Tim has graciously agreed to offer a Memorial Mass for Joan on Saturday, November 10, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church. If you can work it into your schedule, we would love to see you all. We can use the church hall afterward to visit, etc. If you would, please pass this on to others in your family.
Thanks,
Teresa Thomas and Charlie Beier
PS. Some of you have already seen this e-mail, and many of you are too far away to come, but we thought you would appreciate knowing about the Mass. Below is also a copy of the obit that appeared in the Topeka paper on October 25, 2012.

I've met so many nice people. but when that one person comes to mind it puts a smile on my face for the day.:]
Jo was this one person that makes me smile every time I think back to when our kids were young and the Swadley family lived three doors down. She was always there and always had a smile on her face. I feel I not only lost a friend but a part of my past. I'm sure she is missed deeply by Ken and the kids. Prayers for comfort and loving thoughts headed for the Swadley family.

My sincere condolences to all ALL the family. My childhood memories begin with visiting Aunt Sophia and Uncle Phil at Grandpa Beier's old farmhouse, Then by the time they moved to Howard St, I clearly recall my delight at having a GIRL to play with. Joan was 7 years younger than me, another "girl at the bottom of a row of boys." I had 5 older brothers, I knew well how rare it was to go to one of the Aunt's or Uncles' house to play bridge and have a playmate. I remember how quick she was, how it didn't seem at all that we had 7 years between us. Then, as we matured, we had our common interest in pharmacology that gave us instant connection. She was just so EASY, easy to talk to, easy to get along with, easy to smile any time I saw her. I am so grateful for her life.
