Jessica Barron Obituary

Jessica Elise Barron, 40 of Lawrence, KS passed away June 14, 2017 following an intense six month battle with melanoma. A talented writer and poet, Jessica was embraced by all for her spoken word poetry, her free spirited approach to life and her open, loving embracement of her many loving supportive friends. Jessica was born April 16, 1977 in Gadsden, Alabama to Sherry (Lee) and Jeffrey Barron. She lived briefly in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee before moving to Wichita, graduating from Wichita East High School (class of 1995), and Wichita State University. Jessica worked assisting adults with developmental disabilities, gifted in her ability to see the person first – rather than the disability.

She is survived by her mother and step father, Sherry and Denny Grady of Wichita; her significant other Macey Webb of Lawrence, KS; and her brothers Alex Stoll of NYC, Daniel (Britney) Stoll of Wichita, Jeffrey Barron of Gadsden, AL and Clark Barron of Birmingham, AL.

A memorial service will be held, date and location will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, we ask that Memorial Contributions be made to Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S Market St. Wichita, KS 67202, or to any artist or arts program in your community.

the Indomitable spirit of a Poet resided within Jessica Elise. The life and possibilities she inScribed on the page allow us all to share in the force that her life brought into the uniVerse. Forever my answer to the question, "What do you know about Jessica Elise?" will be JESSICA ELISE IS THE GREATEST POET YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD. I only wish there were more who could correct me and say "Jessica Elise is the greatest poet I DID HEAR!"

I am seldom at a loss for words, but I struggle mightily to find any to describe the impact Jess had on my life, I send love to all of you who knew and loved her and I vow to incorporate Jess's fervor and fierceness in my life and in my writing. I loved her and now I love who she loved.

I was Jessica's junior English teacher at East, and I remember her very much as she was described in the obituary: an original thinker and a great writer. She was a favorite of mine then, and I was very sorry to learn of her untimely death today. My sympathy to her family and friends.

The world lost one of the most enlightened souls on the planet when it lost this precious young lady. She was a role model for ME and I'm 60. What an honor it has been to be in her life. She brought joy to everyone around her and could pull you quickly into her words when she spoke poetry. She made our world have a little more color and a lot more light when she was around. Now, fly with the angels sweet girl. You are with us always in our hearts. My love, deep condolences and blessings to the rest of her family and friends.
