Jeri Craig Obituary

Jeri Burton Craig, 83, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024. Jeri was born in Lawrence, KS to Harry Walter Sr and Lola Burton Craig, and is survived by his wife, Mary Reitz Craig, his daughter Mary Jane Craig, and his son Bryan S Craig; daughter-in-law Jennifer Craig, granddaughter Abbye Haber, and grandsons Caleb Craig and Caden Craig; his brother Harry Walter Craig Jr, and sister-in-law Karen Martin Craig. Jeri was a proud graduate of Lawrence High School (class of 1959), received his undergraduate degree in business from KU, and then graduated from Washburn Law School in 1967. His 45-years of practicing law were focused on corporate and contract law, with a specialty in franchise agreements for expanding companies. Jeri was a born storyteller, with a gift for finding a compromise in even the most complex situations. And he had a life-long passion for KU basketball: Rock Chalk! Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to Arterra Event Gallery, 2161 Quail Creek Drive in Lawrence, on January 11th, 2025 at 1pm to reminisce and celebrate the life of Jeri Craig. In lieu of flowers, the Craig family asks that donations be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) that supports humanitarian relief and recovery: https://umcmission.org

I was one of the Lions that Jeri and Harry knocked around on the football field. The Craig´s were A great family. Jeri was always a gentleman and a quality guy. Condolences to the family. I considered Jeri a good friend.

Sending sincere condolences to Jeri´s family and to his bro Harry. My mother took you boys to school at McAllister. She lived down your drive at the cemetery. My bro and I would walk up the hill to your house. My, that part of town has changed.

I was LHS '58: that means I knew both Harry and Jeri. I edited the "Red and Black" yearbook. They were part of what makes the Lawrence Lions great! I so enjoyed the football games at Haskell Stadium where John Hadl was a star, and I still have my pep club jacket: of course it is red and black. And, I have my Chesty Lion student council pin on it!
