Jeffrey Dean Obituary

Jeffrey David Dean, born on December 20, 1964, to Dale and Audrey Dean in Hampton, VA, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025.Jeff was the beloved husband of Karen Tiffany Dean and the cherished father of Madelyn (Maddie) Dean and Andrew (Drew) Dean. His family moved to Green Bay, WI when Jeff's father retired from the Air Force in the late 1960s then to Overland Park, KS in 1976. He attended Nallwood Jr. High and Shawnee Mission South High School. He graduated in 1983 then attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering in 1988 while working at the KU Computer Center. Following graduation, Jeff returned to Overland Park to work at ETG as a computer programmer. He stayed with ETG for many years and met his future wife Karen Tiffany while she worked there as an intern. Jeff and Karen remained friends then became more and eventually married in 1999. Jeff and Karen moved to Lawrence where they raised their 2 children. Jeff then moved to Black & Veatch where he worked through several acquisitions and mergers including Hewlett Packard and eventually moved back to Black & Veatch. Jeff was a Software Analyst SME and Software Analyst Lead resulting in a successful 36-year career.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter, Maddie, of Boston, MA, son, Drew, of Melbourne, FL, father, Dale Dean, of Oxnard, CA, brother, Greg Dean of Montgomery, TX, and his sister, Denise Landers (Dean) of Auburn, AL, as well as many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted mother, Audrey Dean (Slunecka).

Memorial services will be held on March 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
