James Steger Obituary

Jim Steger, age 69, passed away surrounded by family in Lawrence on December 27, 2022.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John and Loretta Steger. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Steger, brothers John (Christi) Steger and Tom (Sue) Steger, sister Suzy (Allen) Winter, son Tim (Amber) Steger, daughter Sara (Joe) Henderson, and grandchildren Leah, Max, Zurich, and Winston.

Jim and Laurie were married for 49 years and have called Lawrence home since 1977.

Jim worked at Evco Wholesale for 42 years before retiring in 2016.

He loved to travel, was a constant fixture at Kansas Jayhawk basketball games, and loved his Kansas City Chiefs.

Visitation is at Warren McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 6-8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in James' name to Rock Chalk Roundball Classic benefiting families battling pediatric cancer and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. It has been many years but I have fond memories of Suzie and I as friends in my youth. I remember watching football at the Stegers with Jim and the whole family. Bless you all with many memories at of Jim.
