James Shook Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved husband, father, son, brother, colleague and friend, James David Shook, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on September 19, 2025. He was 46 years old.

James was born on November 27, 1978, in Tennessee to David and Mary Shook.

James was a hardworking, amazing, funny, and loyal man who built his life on service to others. He was an incredibly generous giver of his time, and his compassionate spirit was felt by all. James was a wonderful man of God, and Deacon at Mountain View Church. Over the years, he was a faithful servant at Ridgecrest Conference Center, The Cove, and most recently Asheville Christian Academy school community. His humble spirit, cheerful heart, and unwavering commitment to Christ have blessed countless students, families, and staff members over the years. His life, though brief, was a gift to all who knew him. James will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Callie Shook; his daughter, Mckinley Shook; sister, Elisabeth Shook; brother, David Shook Jr.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at the funeral home with Pastor Brent Bolick and Rev. Josh Williams officiating.
