Condolences to all in the family. Losing a love one is never easy.
At times like these, "God can give us power beyond what is normal, " so we can keep going from one day to the next. 2Corinthians 4:7.

Mr. Owens was a remarkable gentleman and a fine example to young people. I remember the beautiful flower shop and his service in city government. He was always at Little League baseball games when his son Martin's team was playing and he was friendly and encouraging. He had a strong, positive spirit that stood out and inspired others.

I have fond memories of meeting and talking with Jim Owens at Pioneer Ridge over the last two years. Always with a ruler in his hands and a speedy go-cart that I couldn't keep up with! Lawrence has lost one of its pioneer gentlemen. My condolences to the family.

My deepest condolences to Jim's family and friends. He was one of the best. I first met him in the 1950s, when I lived two blocks from his greenhouse. What an amazing place, with its fertile sights and fragrances. I got to know Mr. Owens again when my father, Bill Pendleton, moved to Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living. He had a motorized wheelchair and usually had a ruler with him, in case he needed to measure something. Always friendly, mentally sharp, and full of knowledge, Jim made good company. I'm glad he made it to 100. He will be truly missed. God's peace to all who mourn his passing.
