James Carroll Obituary

James D. Carroll (J.C.), formerly of Brookfield, Ct., passed away peacefully at his home in Baldwin City, Ks. surrounded by his loving wife, Louanne, sons, Kevin and Barry, and family on January 14, 2012 after a long illness. JC was born in Jamaica, New York on April 12, 1946, the son of John T. and Clara Carroll. He attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine Grade School and Thomas Edison High School with the class of 1963. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in the completion of his tour in 1967. He was a master carpenter who loved to work with his hands and build furniture, but also loved trim work. His company was JC Custom Trim. He retired from carpentry to move to Kansas with his wife where he spent the last nine years of his life with his greatest joys, that being his grandchildren. On July 7, 2001, JC was united in marriage with Louanne Clason in Brookfield, Ct. They enjoyed over ten years of loving marriage together. He is survived by his wife, Louanne; sons Kevin and his wife Nealy, Barry, and his wife Angie and their children Tanner, Cooper, Ryann, Carson, and Nicholas; three sisters, Patricia Spitzfaden of Brookfield, Ct., Claire Rooning, and her husband, Martin, of Long Island, NY., Mary Poster and her husband William of Broofield, Ct; brother in laws, Everett Clason and his wife Thoy, Aryl Clason and wife Karen; and twenty nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John T. Carroll and mother, Clara Carroll, sister, Joan Tommey, and brother, John Jr. JC lived life to the fullest, riding Harleys and boating. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July, which incorporated his love for his country and blowing things up. His faith in God never waivered even in the toughest of times and inspired many. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 January 18th, Wednesday evening at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, Baldwin City. A private military burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Judes Children Hospital, c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 712 Ninth Street, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, Kansas 66006.
