James Campbell Obituary

James "Jim" Michael Campbell passed away Feb. 2, 2018 at Olathe Hospice House. Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 am Fri., Feb. 9, 2018 at Wellsville Baptist Church, 217 Main St., Wellsville, KS 66092. Inurnment follows at Wellsville Cemetery with military honors. Jim was born June 24, 1937 in Mulberry, Kansas to Johnny McQueen and Marjory Frances Goodman. He was raised by his stepdad, Melvin Grant Campbell. Jim grew up in Mulberry and then moved to KC MO where he graduated from Central High School. He served as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps from 1956-1958. Jim married Patsy "Pat" Kay Divine on July 30, 1960 in Miami, OK. They settled in Wellsville in 1976. He was a Production and Control Supervisor for Bendix Corp. (Allied Signal) in KCMO from 1958 to 1992. Jim also spent three years at the McDonald Douglas Plant in St. Louis. He was a member of the Bendix Choraliers and sang in their barbershop quartet. Jim was a member and treasurer of the Management Club of Allied Signal Kansas City. He was a member of the Wellsville Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and usher. Jim's grandkids were an important part of his life and he enjoyed attending their activities. He also liked watching western shows on TV. He will be missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Krayton Keith Murray. Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat, of the home; children: Jeffrey and wife Christy Campbell, Lawrence, KS, Shawn and husband Mike Toplikar, Gardner, KS, Lesli and husband Norman Bissonnette, Canton, TX, Brett and wife Amanda Campbell, Omaha, NE and Jill and husband Brannon Murray, Raymore, MO; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and sister, Phyllis Fanton, Gardner, KS.
