Harold Leach Obituary

Harold Dean Leach, age 79, of Linwood, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 after a lengthy illness. A celebration of Harold's life will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the GoFundMe "In search of Randy Leach" https://gofund.me/efdee6c1

Harold was born on June 6, 1941 in Holton, Kansas and was one of five sons born to Orval & Verna (Stockwell) Leach. His family moved to the Linwood area in 1951 and Harold graduated from Linwood High School in the Class of 1959. Harold married the Love of his Life, Alberta (Rose) on December 16, 1960 and together they made their home in Linwood. As a young man Harold worked at the Lone Star Cement Plant and later he was the warehouse manager at Richardson Foods both in Bonner Springs. He then started a Lawn Equipment Repair business in his garage at his home. Since April 15, 1988 when his son Randy went missing, Harold has devoted his life to leading the search, in hopes of finding Randy and closure for he and Alberta.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Kenneth and Charles Leach. Survivors include his wife Alberta Leach of the home, two brothers: Clifford Leach of Olathe, KS., Ed Leach and wife Lori of Linwood, KS., as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Mr. Leach. I crossed paths with him at the KCK library a few years ago when he and Alberta were there to talk to someone with the Kansas Attorney General's Office about Randy's case. I know these past 33 years have been very difficult for both of them. Mr. Leach had a right to know something about his son's disappearance before he departed this world.

Keeping the faith about Randy was very admirable. So sorry he doesn't get to see the end result. But knowing he possibly is hugging his son in heaven, is heart warming.
