Gloria Slapar Obituary
Darlene married Earl R. (Bob) Slapar on August 28, 1951. Darlene taught Home Economics at Eudora High School from 1953 until she resigned in 1990.
Darlene was active in the Eudora community for many years. She was a board member of the Eudora Library, President of the Lawrence BPW chapter and twice was Regent of the Lawrence Betty Washington DAR chapter.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, daughters Linda (Bruce) Lowdermilk and Jana Callaway, three grandchildren, Christen Smith, Wesley Callaway, and Brandon Callaway, five great-grandchildren, one brother Harman Hanks, niece Deanna Hanks and nephew Curtis Hanks. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Aaron Callaway
Visitation is April 28, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, Kansas. Graveside services will be held April 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Cemetery, rural Girard. For complete obituary please visit www.wallfuneralservices.com.

Mrs. Slapar was my home ec teacher through my high school years (grad 1965). She was a great teacher, inspiring my sewing ability. We had fashion shows of our creations for the community in the gym. And who can forget the yearly slumber parties where we weren't allowed to sleep? Fun memories. Condolences to her family. RIP.

Mrs. Slapar was our Home Economics teacher in 1954-1955. We had style shows in the evening for clothing we had made during our class. These were lots of fun and everyone would come to see what new clothes we had made. I didn't realize our class in the was the 2nd year she had taught at EHS.
Years later Mom showed me a book Mrs. Slapar and
Mrs. Edna Holmes had put together of each Graduating CLass from Eudora Rural High School from 1918-1991. This has been so helpful for people searching for relatives who had lived in Eudora.
In later years I realized Mr. Slapar had taken care of Mrs. Slapar. That's true devotion.

I worked with Darlene for many years. She was always kind, and a gracious lady. She was very helpful to new staff. She was the kind of co-worker that everybody wishes they had. Condolences to the family.
