Gladys Ross Obituary

Gladys June Schafer Ross, 83, of Perry, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Rolling Hills Nursing Center in Topeka. Gladys was born June 21, 1928 at Perry, the daughter of Edgar Leslie and Myra Dick Patterson. As a lifelong resident and homemaker in Perry, she was a 1946 graduate of Perry Rural High School. She was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 431 of Perry, and a member of Jefferson County Farm Bureau, serving as the First District Womens Chairman for many years. She was also very active in the Jefferson County Republican committee. Gladys and her husband, Tunney, were longtime members of the Perry Squares Square Dance club. She was married to Eugene Tunney Schafer on August 21, 1948 at Perry, he preceded her in death on October 12, 1986. She married to G. Roland Ross on May 9, 2003 at Perry, he died on April 22, 2009. She is survived by three sons, Calvin E. (Linda) Schafer, Galena, IL., Donald L. (Vickie) Schafer, Pacific, MO., Patrick E. (Kerry) Schafer, Perry, one sister, Aleta Schafer, Topeka, seven Grandchildren, Meghan Randecker, Abigail Schafer, Olivia Schafer, Chad Schafer, Michael Schafer, Nicholas Schafer, Matthew Schafer, and two great-grandchildren, Layla Schafer and Summer Schafer. Services will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Perry United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at Barnett Family Funeral Home, 1220 Walnut (U.S. Highway 59), Oskaloosa. The casket will remain closed. Memorials may be made to Perry United Methodist Church or to Grace Hospice in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS. 66066. www.barnettfamilyfh.com
