George was one of my all time favorite people. He was the superintendent in St. John when I first started teaching there. However, I soon discovered he and Clara Mae, whom I love, were my neighbors. I always looked forward to visiting with George about books, politics, education, and life in general. Our conversations were always interesting. He was not only the best administrator I have ever known, he was also one of the best people. May his family find peace in their many wonderful memories.

George and Clara Mae were very close friends of my in-laws, Gerald and Donna Riley. We had just recently tried locating them because we have moved Donna and Gerald to Lawrence. We have such fond memories of both of them, and feel such loss at George's death. We would love to get in touch with Clara Mae so that she and Donna could talk. We send our love.

Clara Mae and Amy,
As you know, Linda and I got to know both of you for the first time at a Community Mercantile Annual Meeting/Picnic. Then both of you were regular attendees at the University Community Forums, sponsored by Ecumenical Campus Ministries at KU..I was the Campus Minister.
Knowing both of you has been a gift and when visiting George, I always appreciated his insightful questions/comments on Kansas history and his curiosity about my being raised in the Osage Nation in Oklahoma. His warmth, humor and hospitality is something I will always remember.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends, and the promises of Almighty God, that there is a hope of seeing your loved one again. My condolences
