Garon Gardner Obituary

Garon Gale Gardner, 73, of McLouth died Sunday, April 24, 2022 at his home. Garon was born May 23, 1948 at Lamar, MO, the son of Floyd Aaron, Jr. and Virginia Lee Rice Gardner. He was a 1966 graduate of Lamar High School where he excelled in academics, all sports and was known as a kind and protective person. He attended Pittsburg State University, earning his Masters degree in Physical Education. He served two years in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 before completing his Masters degree in 1977. Garon became a teacher and coach for many years before his retirement. He coached his first basketball team to a state championship. He coached thousands of scholar athletes and his care for students and their education was incredulous. His students lovingly calling him "Gunny" because he was hard but fair and cared about them. He was a member of the National Education Association.

Garon met the Love of his life, Susan Elaine Hight while attending college and they were married on October 22, 1977 at Roeland Park, KS, Susan preceded him death on September 13, 2013. He is survived by three sons, Nathan Gardner, Rose Mount MN, Aaron Gardner, Oklahoma City, OK, and Isaac Gardner, Eudora, one sister, Vicki DiDinato, Liberty, MO, one brother, Steve Gardner, Santa Cruz, CA, six grandchildren, Kaitlin, Caleb, Braydon, Addison, Anastasia and Atticus Gardner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, his parents and a brother, Stanley Gardner. "Dad, you will always be in our hearts, Be with Mom and look down on us, Love you Daddy"

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Visitation and viewing will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
