Frances I. "Gean" Herd

Memorial gathering for Frances Imogean "Gean" Herd, 86, Lawrence will be held in the spring of 2015 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. She died Monday, December 22, 2014 at her home. She moved to Lawrence November of 1988 from Wichita, KS.

She was born June 8, 1928 in Monett, MO the daughter of Sam and Elizabeth E. (True) Pinkley.

She was a volunteer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and the National Republican Party GOP.

She was a principal's secretary at the Board of Education USD 259 in Wichita, KS until she retired in 1988 after 25 years.

She married Joseph C. Herd on March 12, 1950 in Wichita, KS. He preceded her in death April 13, 2006.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Herd and husband, Tim Taylor, Deborah "Debbie" Van Saun and husband, Paul, both of Lawrence, Pamela Dowell, Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren, Jeff Glyckherr, Lawrence, KC Glyckherr O'Toole, Oklahoma City, OK, Kristen Gean Toner, Lawrence, Joey Van Saun, Hingham, MA; five great grandchildren, Grace Toner, Max Toner, both of Lawrence, Greta O'Toole, Stella O'Toole, Oklahoma City, Cameron Van Saun, Hingham, MA; one brother, Tom L. Pinkley, Monnet, MO. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Everett, and Betty Goodman; and one brother, Edward Pinkley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
